Xiaomi is celebrating the success story of its massively popular Redmi Note 4 on Flipkart on Wednesday by hosting a limited period promotional sale that besides offering the phone for cheap would also ensure potential buyers actually get their hands on a unit. You know how hard to get Xiaomi phones are, right? Getting the Redmi Note 4 for cheap — for as low as a ridiculous Rs 999 — is just the icing on the cake. The two — pricing and availability — when combined is a deal that’s no less than fantastic because simply put, the Redmi Note 4 is a fantastic value for money phone.
Now, on a regular day, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 starts at Rs 9,999 for the base 2GB RAM and 32GB storage version. The 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage versions, meanwhile, cost Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively. At the time of writing this piece, however, the Redmi Note 4 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage versions can be purchased for just Rs 999. But there’s a catch. Potential buyers can buy the phone for as little as Rs 999 only on exchange. That’s a (hefty) Rs 12,000 discount on the 4GB RAM version, and Rs 10,000 discount on the 3GB RAM version, but, there’s still a catch to it, if you dive into the details.
For one, although the Redmi Note 4 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage versions can be picked up for as low as Rs 999 as part of the offer, potential buyers will have to shell out Rs 100 for pick up of the device that they wish to exchange in return of a brand new Redmi Note 4. This means, they will be effectively paying a sum of Rs 1,099 and not Rs 999.
Potential buyers can avail the offer — that is maximum discount — in exchange of the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 6S alone. While exchanging your iPhone 7 will make you eligible for Rs 12,000 discount on the 4GB RAM Redmi Note 4, exchanging your iPhone 6S will give you the Rs 10,000 off on the 3GB RAM version of the Redmi Note 4. Although Xiaomi is often called the Apple of China, I am not sure how many would want to replace an iPhone 7 that starts at Rs 48,999 and an iPhone 6S that starts at Rs 41,499, to get a hold on to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
What is particularly baffling is that no other smartphone would give you a Rs 12,000 and Rs 10,000 discount in exchange meaning you’ll absolutely have to have Apple’s best (and second best) if you’re looking to buy the Redmi Note 4 for Rs 999.
Follow up to Xiaomi’s much successful Redmi Note 3; the Redmi Not 4 exists primarily to correct the camera shortcomings of its predecessor, according to the company. The phone comes with a 13-megapixel camera on the rear with f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Autofocus and dual-LED (dual-tone) flash. On the front, the Redmi Note 4 comes with a 5-megapixel camera. Just like the Redmi Note 3, the Redmi Note 4 boasts of a full-metal body and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Unlike the Redmi Note 3, however, the Redmi Note 4 has curved 2.5D glass on the front (with physical capacitive keys) and a bottom-facing mono speaker.
The phone comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clubbed with Adreno 506GPU. All the versions of the Redmi Note 4 support expandable storage of up to 128GB via a hybrid microSD card slot. The dualSIM phone runs Android Marshmallow-based MIUI 8 and supports 4G LTE (VoLTE-ready). The Redmi Note 4 is further backed by a 4,100mAh battery.
