Now that we have discussed what needs to be done at home, let us now move to our office space — an area where we spend a minimum of eight hours of our life daily. So, how can Feng Shui help you brighten up your drab office space? Read on to know more…
If possible, place your desk directly opposite the front door of your office. If that’s not possible, slightly tilt your desk so that it faces the main door. It is said that this helps you imbibe all the positive energies from the outside to the inside.
Clear the clutter
The more cluttered your desk will be, the more cluttered your mind will be — not only this, you productivity will take a dip if you are always surrounded in clutter — so, everyday, clear out your desk first, breathe easy and then start working.
If you can, get your desk painted in a bright colour or mix and match colours. If not, place some different coloured paper strips alongside. Don’t mix too many colours and avoid greys and blacks. This will bring in creativity for your space.
The back left corner of the desk is a great place to place a plant. If you can’t manage that, consider putting a Feng Shui pyramid, crystal or the yin and yang symbol there. This will bring in positivity for you.
Do this simple trick to motivate yourself everyday at work — hang a picture (or certificate) of your biggest achievement at your desk. It might be from years ago and might be not work-related (such as winning a sketching contest), but will motivate you to work hard everyday.
If you wish to find someone special (in or outside the office), place some flowers on your office desk everyday and keep changing them often. Lilies are a great choice to be placed on the desk. However, avoid pure white flowers.
According to Feng Shui principles, a family photo fits well on the left center of the desk. If you can, go for a wooden frame. It is said that wood instantly increases the energy of a place and gives you peace.
Keep the centre of your desk clear of clutter. Although sitting at your desk, can cause you major health issues, keep leaving your workstation every 30 minutes to go for a small walk.
Get more productive
If you can, place your object of creativity (for example, pen for writer, brush for a painter and so on) on the right hand corner of your desk. This will not only motivate you to follow your dreams but will also get those hidden creative juices flowing.
Get more intelligent
Focus on the front left corner of the desk. Place a dictionary or reference book here or anything and everything that gives you knowledge. This apart, you can also hang here the picture of a genius like Einstein whose work your find inspiring.
