MADLY IN LOVE

The ancient Greeks called love “the madness of the Gods” and in Indic myth Kamadeva has 5 flower arrows, one of which symbolizes “intoxication” another “disturbance”.

We say “madly in love” meaning they lose control when in the grip of desire and jealousy, “Deewane” is the Hindi term which means crazy.

We are however socially uncomfortable with accepting desire as something natural, suggesting that it is a mental illness or depravity.

Sensual skin hunger which is sexually romantic is naturally present, but it is always locked out of sight as love and desire are frowned upon by purists.
