The mammoth Mi Max 2, which was announced by Xiaomi two days ago is set to go on sale in India today exclusively via Mi.com as a part of Xiaomi’s 3rd Mi Anniversary sale. The smartphone will also be available at the Mi Home Store in Bengaluru, the company’s only official retail store in India.
The Mi Max 2 will also be available from 10 am tomorrow from the Mi Store as a part of the same anniversary celebrations. Wider open sales are set to begin from July 27, when the smartphone will be available via offline channels, the Mi store as well as Flipkart. The smartphone has been priced at Rs 16,999 and is available in a matte black color variant.
The Mi Max 2 is the successor to last year’s Mi Max and comes with a mammoth 6.44-inch fullHD display with Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection against scratches, 64GB of internal storage and a sizeable 5,300mAh battery which the company claims can deliver up to 31 days of standby time and 57 hours of talktime. Many Xiaomi fans have been disappointed with the company for launching the Mi Max 2 over the company’s flagship smartphone, the Mi 6 in India. The Mi 6, which comes with top of the line specifications and a gorgeous 3D glass design has not been launched in India yet. Coming back to the Mi Max 2, the smartphone is powered by the super efficient octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and the Adreno 506 GPU.
On the imaging front, the Mi Max 2 comes with a 12MP rear camera with a Sony IMX386 sensor with an aperture of f/2.2, phase detection autofocus and a dual-LED flash. On the front, there is a 5MP shooter with an aperture of f/2.0 for selfies. The smartphone supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, dualSIMs, GPS/A-GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac and comes with a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
